If you have no plans for the evening but would like to see one of Toronto’s finest has to offer I suggest y’all to come out to support the big homie Rich Kidd for the release of the 5th installment of his “We On Some Rich Kidd Shit” series tonight at Revival Nightclub (783 College St.). On the 1s and 2s will be DJ Wristpect, DJ Nana, DJ Mensa and DJ Straight Goodz along with MC Sir Lancelot as the host of the night along with a slew of special guests that will be performing. This is a 19+ event, doors open at 10:00pm and to get on the list for tonight’s show RSVP at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This is the first release from our album, The New North. We gathered some of Toronto’s (and London’s in this case) finest to put together this compilation.
Flawless features Shad with production from Frank Dukes. This joint incites visions of action, James Bond type ish, or some anime type joints. So it was fitting to add some anime visuals to this song, from the classic Ninja Scroll. Frank Dukes had this to say about this song:
“After learning I would be working with Shad, I knew I wanted to bring him into a different zone than what people were accustomed to or might expect from him thus far. I gave him a rugged, aggressive beat that he absolutely bodied, which kind of led to the title of the song.”
Yeah, we all bugged when we heard him on this. Shouts to Dj Dopey for the cuts.

Philadelphia’s Grammy Award-winning producer DJ Jazzy Jeff joins forces with T.O.’s own Ayah to let loose 13 soothing, soulful joints on their collaborative album “Back For More“. Features on the album come from STS and Toronto’s Tona, while additional production is provided by from Jeff Townes, James Poyser & Demien DeSandies.
A little late on this post but Tona comes again with another banger courtesy of Rich Kidd again and together with a little help of their favourite past time comes ‘Hennessey Thoughts‘ off of Tona‘s upcoming album ‘Silver Spring Crescent‘, coming out this fall. Directed by Matt Beecraft.
I’ll just let the fellas explain what this is about:
“Arizona Bay” featuring Franz Thomas is the latest diverse, powerful and out of the box assault from the FREEDOM WRITERS collective. It touches on the historical myths of Freedom and Democracy and how they are perpetuated in today’s climate. Thought provoking, nonpartisan and often shocking, The Freedom Writers deliver an intricate, and bold rhyme pattern that is backed by an eerie soundtrack creating the perfect blend courtesy of “FW” colleague, producer and engineer Big Sproxx.
Whether it’s war, 9-11, Haiti, Hurricane Katrina, The G20, Police Brutality, Government deception, slavery, poverty, the Prison and Judicial systems, the media or the fluctuating price of oil, there is no topic “too touchy” for the Freedom Writers to expose in “Arizona Bay”. – Freedom Writers
