ABOUT KEYZ OF LIFE
In 2010 Anthony “Durty Keyz” James from production duo Burd & Keyz passed away suddenly from a bacterial infection called Streptococcus. He was 23 years old. Before he passed, he had started a project called Keyz of Life. In his honour his production partner Andrew “Burd” Liburd decided to finish the project. Featuring artists like Kardinal Offishall, Luu Breeze, Nickelus F, SonReal, Blake Carrington, Shi Wisdom, A-Game, OmarLunan aka Oh!, Promise, Redway, Rich Kidd, Rochester, Divine Brown and more, Keyz of Life not only pays homage to Keyz but also to his flourishing home city of Toronto.

A little taste of what’s to come from Sep’s Worst Nightmare video. Wonder if this is how it will be Saturday at Passion Lounge

Working almost exclusively with producer GameBoy, Jus Randy been building in the lab to keep his creative juices flowing. Now back and stronger than ever, he’s ready to hit the world with a double dose of heat. Produced by Gameboy with vocals provided by R&B singer Ray Robinson, the lead single Gud Mawning can almost be described as a spiritual and uplifting track, with a message to those going through hard times to keep their eye on the prize. Jus Randy takes listeners to church on this one, with Ray Robinson providing the vocal elements for the perfect collabo.

On the ‘b-side’, Jus Randy goes in hard with This Is War and lets listeners know that he’s back, with no plans of taking any shorts. Also produced by Gameboy, this track is definitely edgier, with razor-like lyrical word play to match.

The second official release from the New North compilation, features the prince of the north, JD Era. Change is a different sound than the typical Era, with it’s positive vibe and smooth production from Soundsmith, mixed in with vocals from Lokz, it shows another dimension of this up coming emcee.

“Change” was inspired by the title of The Real Frequency’s project “The New North”. I feel like this album symbolizes a changing of the guard, passing the torch to those next up from Toronto. Being a young artist and having been fortunate enough to have gotten an early start in this music industry, I felt this was the perfect record to motivate those that want to pick up the mic. At the same time, I’m letting them know that nothing comes easy, so work hard, and believe in yourself.”
