The second official release from the New North compilation, features the prince of the north, JD Era. Change is a different sound than the typical Era, with it’s positive vibe and smooth production from Soundsmith, mixed in with vocals from Lokz, it shows another dimension of this up coming emcee.

“Change” was inspired by the title of The Real Frequency’s project “The New North”. I feel like this album symbolizes a changing of the guard, passing the torch to those next up from Toronto. Being a young artist and having been fortunate enough to have gotten an early start in this music industry, I felt this was the perfect record to motivate those that want to pick up the mic. At the same time, I’m letting them know that nothing comes easy, so work hard, and believe in yourself.”

  1. JD Era – “Change” F. LOKZ | Potholes In My Blog Said,

[...] “Change” is the latest release off The New North compilation. The track features JD Era and LOKZ and is easily one of the smoother songs on the compilation album, a fact that, according to JD Era, compliments and plays up the power of the song’s the message. “Change” was inspired by the title of The Real Frequency’s project The New North,” explains Era, adding that he feels the “album symbolizes a changing of the guard, a passing of the torch to those next up from Toronto.” JD’s laid-back flow is framed by bouncing percussion, clean guitar, and fluid piano licks courtesy of producer Soundsmith and complimented by LOKZ’s soulful vocals.
