80 minute Q&A with hip-hop’s most anticipated artist, in which Jay Elec talks about Nas, Dilla, conspiracy theories, Exhibit B, his upbringing, the “mystique” surrounding him, and much more. Definitely worth a watch if you got some time. Via NahRight!

I can’t lie, I used to hate on my man Phil for posting music from Curren$y because I thought he was really overrated but recently he’s began to grow on me. Here’s another joint from the Ski Beatz “24 Hour Karate School” mixtape, directed by Dame Dash‘s video production team, Creative Control, who have been doing some incredible work lately. Visuals in this one are no exception.

Bollyhood is a beat tape I put together in winter  2007, made from various Hindi and Malayalam movie soundtracks I found while out digging. All tracks were done on a mpc2500 except for the intro, which was done on a Yamaha su700. I gotta shout out Madlib and DJ Om for the concept.” - Buddy Maxwell

Dope beat tape/instrumental project from Buddy Maxwell, who drew inspiration for it from Madlib’s “Beat Konducta In India.  My personal joints are “Yakshi”, “Entek”, “USSR”, and “Desi”. Emcees, if you want to do your thing on any these, Buddy says go right ahead, just send him the finished version. Track list and download link after the jump.

Stussy – J Dilla Documentary Prt3 (of 3) from Stussy on Vimeo.

In the final installment of Stussy‘s documentary, we get more insight into the creative process of Dilla, the ridiculous at which pace he pumped out beats, and some of the hidden meanings behind “Donuts”. This documentary has been a fantastic watch, full of jewels. Props to NahRight once again.

Smileyoic

Spotted at Kevin Nottingham, Gangstarr Affiliate and Bronx native Smiley The Ghetto Child just released his first single “I’m Legend” produced by DJ Premier, off his upcoming album, “The Antidote Pt. 2“. Smiley goes off on this head-nodding  beat, which has been on repeat since I first peeped it! Always good to see Preemo continuing staying true to his boom-bap roots as well!

Hilarious video of  SNL/3RD Rock star Tracey Morgan and Jimmy Kimmel centered around Tracey’s fascination of  getting his Wilt Chamberlain on! Dead at Jimmy trying to be Lil Jon, the grill on him and the auto-tune usage is straight classic!
