Decade Albums

As we wrap up 2009, we take a look back at the decade’s best albums. Now this being Hip Hop there is no way you can make a list with out a ‘discussion’, so we brought along Big Jacks (Grand Groove DJs) and the homie DJ Agile (Brassmunk, Big Black Lincoln) to add their views and take a look at a decade we thought was weak?

Also peep count down on this weeks show with guest co-host Kardinal Offishall.

Check the list after the jump, and join in.

  2. Numeric Said,

This list reminded me that so many good albums came out in the last decade… I actually had to look up “Like Water For Chocolate” because I thought that came out in the 90s. Man, how time flies.

Some albums I would have added:

    Jurassic 5 – Quality Control
    Madvillain – Madvillainy
People Under the Stairs – OST
    Ghostface Killah – Fishscale
Binary Star – Masters of the Universe
Masta Ace – A Long Hot Summer
Edan – Beauty & The Beat
    Foreign Exchange – Connected

  3. Ro'Shine Said,

  4. DA TRUTH Said,

C’mon Son. We all know 50′s Get Rich or Die Tryin was the album of the decade! Get yo mind right. Some lazy work goin on here! Damn!!

  5. vatkeezy Said,

    Da Truth = Tony Yayo

  6. Big Jacks Said,

I didn’t get to mention it in the podcast but i think The Game’s “documentary” should be on the list or atleast considered! I personally rate it over those Roots albums and the Black Milk.

  7. ajax Said,

T.I.’s Paper Trail is definitly on my list. This was a huge project in terms of artistry:

    - monster production from the likes of DJ Toomp (with whom he reunited after a falling out), Just Blaze and others
    - heavy features from the likes of Ludacris, Kanye, John Legend, Usher, Jay-Z and others
    - a certified underground banger in Swagger Like Us, and a Billboard smash in Live Your Life
    - lyricism from T.I. on par with the best in the game today

“Paper Trail” catapulted T.I. from being the (arguable) King of the South (already impressive), to mainstream Pop recognition while at the same time maintaining his credibility as an incredible hiphop artist. In my opinion, “Paper Trail” is a “Blueprint” type album, and its a shame that T.I. just doesn’t seem to have connected with heads up here.

Hollerate!
