“Toronto, ON – Once again, local producers thrive on an international platform – this time on the legendary Rakim’s highly anticipated new album. The Seventh Seal has an array of guest features and beatmakers on the release, including Soundsmith Productions behind the track “Documentary Of A Gangsta”. Rakim says of the production line-up “you’ll see names you know and names you don’t recognize yet but will after this drops” – ackowledging that he chose only the best in their field.
Soundsmith Productions is a Toronto-based team of four individuals: Y-Not, Mac, Kool-Aid and Ritchie. Although they are not strangers to the music industry by any means, they are honored to be working with an icon. “Rakim is a part of the hip-hop foundation, we are humbled by the placement on The Seventh Seal” says Y-Not. Since 2002, the soundcrew has crafted tracks for the likes of Lloyd Banks, Young Jeezy, Kardinal Offishall and now Rakim.

[...] I’ve yet to hear “The Seventh Seal” (in stores now) in it’s entirety (gave it a quick skim) but this sounded like one of the best joints. Coincidentally, this is produced by Toronto production team, Soundsmith Productions (Mac, Y-Not, Kool Aid, Ritchie). I believe Y-Not is credited for the track on the album, but it’s a win for the entire team and should open up more doors for them. Don’t forget, the album release party, hosted by the Soundsmith team is this Thursday! [...]
