Late pass on this but it still deserves a post since freestyling is the essence of hip-hop and everybody claims not to actually write anything these days anyways haha. Everybody did their thing but Jack Flawless and Sinotra really stood out to me.

Nothing to be said here except MoSS!

Apparently only a small piece of this vintage interview was previously available… until now. 30 minutes of Dr. Dre talking about a multitude of topics, including magazines (The Source vs. VIBE), the coastal beef, and lots more. After that, catch classic videos from “The Chronic”.

Very similar to Ed Lover‘s “C’Mon Son” series, except that Lil Duval and Charlamagne trade their respective opinions on current hip hop headlines like Lady Gaga‘s gender, Drake‘s latest video, “Forever”, Chris Brown and Rihanna (“If I was fuckin’ Rihanna and they put me on probation and told me I couldn’t be around her in the US, I would go out of the country (to Mexico) to get some of that pussy too”), whose a worse singer, T-Pain or Rihanna, and more. Hit the jump for the last 3 episodes, which I missed myself. Read the rest of this entry »

Another video from Raekwon’s “Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2″, this time for the MoSS joint, “Have Mercy” featuring Beanie Sigel. If you don’t know, MoSS is from T.O. and previously worked with Ghost & Rae on “Kilo”. He was not credited properly on the album, but I’ve heard that situation has been resolved legally since then, so congrats to the homie MoSS!. Word is Raekwon shot 14 videos for this album, can’t wait to see the rest!

Cratery 8.5

“A little something extra for the die-hard Cratery heads out there. Kaewonder, Skratch Bastid and myself decided to tap into our 45 piles for a few more gems. Lots of heat here: from the instrumental version of The Eleventh Hour’s Hollywood Hot to classic Fatback to some lesser known bangers (The Mirettes, Just Friends).  The world never seems to run out of 45’s.  You can always find something you’ve never heard. Especially when we do the work for you.  The rotation: Skratch Bastid, Kaewonder, Arcee. Cratery 8.5, people. Enjoy.” - ARCEE

Toronto MC Spek Won collaborates with producer Lord Quest for a bangin joint and an even more impressive video. I really like the way this was shot, shouts to Hatch X of Long Field Films on a great job. Props to BrokenCool for putting me on as well! Saw some cameos from Rochester and if I’m not in need of an optometrist’s appointment, JD Era.

Big shouts to ThisIs50.com for recognizing Canadian talent! Frank Dukes talks about his work with 50 Cent, literally (in person). If you don’t know, Frank has also produced for Joell Ortiz, Styles P, and will be on the upcoming Masta Ace & EDO G. album, “Arts & Entertainemt (A&E)”. He also goes on to talk about what a typical Monday is like in his life and artists that he’s aspiring to work with.

Wizard Of Poetry

Ghostdini: The Wizard of Poetry in Emerald City

Been bangin’ this album for a couple of days now and I’ll be picking it up the minute I go to the store. Ghostface never ceases to amaze me because he has managed to accomplish what many rappers have failed to do; create a dope R&B-influenced album. Obviously, Def Jam had a lot of influence in the direction of this album due to the lackluster sales of his previous efforts. The crazy thing is he didn’t raise a fuss or anything, instead he just went into the lab and created a dope album. But don’t take my word, take in the full album for yourself! My choice cuts are “Let’s Stop Playin’ f/ John Legend”, “Guest House f/ Fabolous (Prod. J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League)”, “Lonely”, “Stapleton Sex”, and “Goner”.
