1st Party TV – Mista Bourne speaks on Drake and why Toronto should be ashamed of it’s self for viewing our talent as “local” artists, How many other Drakes are in this city? & shows love to Saukrates for working with Toronto’s new wave of talent”

No, he’s not hating on Canada’s golden boy, so don’t get your panties ruffled. Basically, what Mista Bourne is saying is that we need to recognize and support our homegrown talent from the jump (if they are deserving of it), and not wait for a co-sign from someone like Lil’ Wayne or Jay-Z, to start heralding the artist. We at the Real Frequency already know this and that is one of the reasons we created The New North. This is an interesting topic, so if you are about our city and homegrown artists, speak on it in the comments.

Good post.. i agree with everything said

  2. mertz Said,

foundations to the groundations like how spexx be saying ALL THE TIME. i know tdot is the screwface capital but too many people take that title to heart. there is lots of good happening here in the city in terms of all the arts and more people just need to support. even if you don’t have the money you can support by being at things and lending your ear, your mind, your body to help set up things and promote things and just keep at it. i mean now people looking at homie aubrey like he’s oh so big now but man the kid just like so many people and maybe not enough of the people in the game, listened, took advice, evaluated his game and his goals and kept revaluating that and doing it all. i laugh when people are getting on the drake thing lol and everyone thinking he’s oh so new, which is true when you’re talking about some of the local tdot og’s that have been at this 10 years longer or shorter, but the kid isn’t new on the scene. if you live in this city and you listen to rap or hip hop in the past maybe 3 years you should know who drake is. too many people be slacking on people. support the groundations and build foundations. you guys keep up the good work.

  3. vatkeezy Said,

Well said mertz. And if you come out to support something, show some enthusiasm and energy, don’t just stand around waiting to be wowed.

  4. sha prince Said,

Also agree with what was said here…definetly have to support “those who deserve it”
people claiming HipHop is dead and you have countless Emcee’s in our city alone that could prove that statement wrong…I think some people have to put there “pride” and “egos” aside and show luv to those who make qaulity music new artist and old…
