Marco Polo & Torae Interview On The Real Frequency 07/20/2009 from Real Frequency on Vimeo.

Torae Freestyle On The Real Frequency 07/20/2009 from Real Frequency on Vimeo.

T.O. 2 Brooklyn: Marco Polo and Torae stopped by the show this week to speak on their recently released “Double Barrel” collaborative LP, how their friendship came about, taking it back to the basics of hip-hop with the album, and opening for Black Moon and Smif-N-Wessun @ The Tribute To The Classics (“Enta Da Stage” and “Dah Shinnin”) shows. Ofcourse, we couldn’t allow Torae to leave without going in on a classic DITC instrumental. Marco did not participate in the freestyle session because, and I quote, he “raps from his mind”. Shouts to the fellas for coming through!

Sauks Rich Kidd Tone Mason

It’s my pleasure to present you this certified heatery, Saukrates featuring the homie Rich Kidd spitting a dope verse, backed by the production of one of T.O.’s best production teams, Tone Mason. You probably heard Saukrates and Rich Kidd collaborate on “2999″ and “I Wish I Knew Natalie Portman” but now we get verses from both! Big shouts to my man Courtney Uno on the linkage!

Rich Kidd and Tone Mason will also be featured on our New North singles, “Represent” (King Reign, Rich Kidd, Shaun Booothe, & Richie Sosa) and “Heateration 101″ (Grimace Love, Theology 3, Shad, & The Kid Famous), dropping July 28th on iTunes!

Despite Nike’s attempt to Roswell all of the video recordings, TMZ was able to obtain a copy. Quality is not the greatest but you can witness Lebron as the victim of a drive-by. This is a little bit overrated to me, I mean Nick Young had a much better poster on him (35 second mark).

Eternia travels to Mexico City to perform w/ Mexico’s well renowned veteran MC, Bocafloja. Fans line-up around the corner by 2pm, & the sold out show literally SHUTS THE CITY DOWN when there’s a power outage for 2 hrs. E is joined by Gabriel Teodros (Seattle) & Para La Gente (The Bay) in this unforgettable experience of a lifetime. “Quilombo! Mocambo!”

Shouts to the homie DJ Sav One on the heads up!

Bishop Brigante catches up with another member of Slaughterhouse, Mr. Nickel Nine aka Royce Da 5’9, for the 3rd installment of his “Gambling Stories”. Turns out Royce doesn’t actually gamble for funds but does share a couple of situations in which he took a gamble; dissing D12 against Eminem‘s advice and going to look for a record deal after the birth of his son.

MoSS

Some excerpts from the interview:

Rumors have it that you’re Premo’s new production partner, can you elaborate on that?

I’m the first producer signed to Works of Mart. Maybe one day we’ll do a press release, but for now he mentions it when asked, as do I.  He approached me about it a year ago when I was in NY and I was immediately on board.  To have someone like Premier support your music and sign you without asking for anything to change was one of the most important moments of my career.  It was a better feeling them most of my placements to be honest, just because it gave me a sense of confidence that all I’d been doing hadn’t gone unnoticed. It’s also good because he’s one of the most down to earth people I’ve met.  Regardless of business and music, we just hit it off as friends.  We usually end up talking about non-music related stuff more often then not.

What can we expect from you in the near future?

I produced Eternia’s album, and I’m excited about it.  I think it’s going to be that album that ends up spreading by word of mouth and getting more recognition in the end then people thought it would.  She’s really dope and the album is the best thing I’ve done to date.  We’ve got Rah Digga, Rage, Jean Grae, Joell Ortiz, Termanology, Reef and others on the record also.  I’m also finishing my album. It’s been a long journey, but it’s almost there.  I’ve got M.O.P., Joell Ortiz, Joe Budden, Red Cafe, Sheek Louch, Willie Da Kid, LA The Darkman, Ill Bill, Termanology and more on it. I’ll also have a few more suprises that I’ll keep to myself for now.  I’ve also got beats on various upcoming albums like Joell Ortiz, Buckshot/KRS, Vinnie Paz, Termanology etc… Probably will be doing some work for Year Round… Also have an artist out of Termanology’s crew ST. Da Squad, Ghetto that I’ve done alot of work with.  He’s getting out of  jail soon and it’ll be time to get his record going.”

Head to iStandardProducers for the full interview. Shouts to the homie MoSS for continuing to do big things!

Illite Front

A pleasant surprise that I found in my inbox today. Hadn’t heard of Illite before, but was able to decipher he’s from Detroit from the producer credits, which is typically a great thing, as Detroit is responsible for some of the best hip-hop right now. Upon further research, I found out Illite is actually down with One Be Lo and Binary Star and was able to secure quite an impressive production lineup for this mixtape, including contributions from 14KT, Nick Speed, T.O.’s own Frank Dukes, Vitamin D, Astronote, and more, as well as guest appearances from Buff 1 and Eric Roberson! Track list and link after the jump.

Couple of clips from Shad‘s VANS Warped Tour Toronto stop on July 10th. Shad performing “Quest For Glory” and as usual a little freestyle goodness without the aid of a Blackberry or iPhone (no shots). Shad is also featured on our very own “Heateration 101″, along with The Kid Famous, Grimace Love, Theology 3, and Tone Mason, which is available on iTunes 07/28. His verse is probably my personal favourite on the record.
