16 years! Is it possible someone grew up listening to us? I was instructed to hold this show back, until the 16 16′s mixtape came out. So now it’s out. Here’s the celebration show. Shout out to those who came to hang out, Sproxxx, Ski, Quakas, Scandilis, and StAR.

Spotted over at the homie Quartermaine’s blog (from Critically Acclaimed), the funky president and beat junkie, J Rocc put together a nice little mix of samples the late, great J Dilla made into classics.  He also had this to say:

“If you know these records, DON’T CALL IT OUT. I don’t like doing these type of mixes because I’ve seen artist get popped because of these type of mixes. Not everyone can afford to clear some of these loops…..thank you.”

Only Getting Bigger… Drake Interview

Posted by musikleeinzane under Homegrown

The man of the hour right now. With over 80 000 downloads (last I checked) of his mixtape “So Far Gone“, it’s pretty hard to deny this guy his props. But being from “the city with the most haters per capita” I’m sure many will.

Brand new mixtape from drummer/producer Karriem Riggins, who has worked very closely with some of our favourite artists, including The Roots, Common, Slum Village,  Erykah Badu, Elzhi, Phat Kat, and Madlib! If you’re not up on the discography, catch up.  I caught Mr. Riggins in action last year, at the Madlib and Karriem Riggins show, which Madlib couldn’t attend because he missed his flight.  Karriem still did his thing, playing exclusive beats, breaks, and remixes from his personal stash.  This mixtape is very much like that performance, as it includes the same ingredients of heatery I just mentioned.  Enjoy.

UPDATE: Karriem asked me to take down his mix. My apologies Karriem, thought this was promo material, as I couldn’t find a link to buy it anywhere. If there is one, let me know and I will include it here so fans can buy it.

No track list came with this.

Here’s a mixtape Musiklee Inzane and P-Plus did a few years ago, with a very self-explanatory concept… nothing but classic joints by some of Canada’s legends, including Saukrates, Kardinal Offishall, Maestro, Marvel, Mathematik, and more! Real heads *no pun intended* should already know most of the track list but there are a few gems in here you might need to get familiar with. Hit the jump for more.

“Some people say I’m like the new K-Os just cuz I got a band and a brain, I guess every black man is the same.” Props to Guarav on the link.

The Kid Famous has come a long way in a very short amount of time and has been reppin’ the T Dot properly, but I’ll let him tell it:

If you missed anything from the kid from the past year including the now infamous Ghostwriter series it’s all here!!! Respect to DJ Wristpect for helping me put this together and to hustleGRL for the artwork!!!”

Features guest appearances from Kardinal Offishall, Tona, Kim Davis, Agile, Andreena Mill, Mayhem Morearty, and more, as well as exclusives from yours truly, The Real Frequency! Track list and link after the jump.

The homie Tona, one of the hottest spitters in the city, sent me this exclusive featuring another Real Freq fave, the one and only Skyzoo.  I believe the fellas linked up for this joint after the “Professionals” show we did w/ Skyzoo, Tona, Ayah, and S-Roc (of Brassmunk) backing up Tona.  This is produced by Lyve, a T Dot producer on the come up.  Dope flip on the sample.  Look for Tona’s “Direct Deposit” EP in March, it’s sure to be a banger!
