Silent Knight – Holla Burton

Posted by vatkeezy under Heateration

I first became familiar with Silent Knight on DJ K.O.’s album “Picture This” via the cuts “Here We Go” and “Get ‘Em” and was very impressed with his lyricism so needless to say I was pleasantly surprised to see this mixtape.  With guest appearances from some of the underground’s finest, including 8thW1, Fresh Daily, Rashid Hadee, Emilio Rojas, Kaze, Oddisee, Skyzoo, and Kenn Starr, as well as production from 9th Wonder, Jake One, Illmind, M-Phazes, and Analogic, this is one solid mixtape! Not to mention, the covers are dope! Hit the jump for the track list and link.

Nasty Nate strikes again!

Posted by vatkeezy under Balleration

No, not this Nate, but this one. This putback > the previous. Nate has been my dude since he was playing for Washington with Brandon Roy in the backcourt, he has more heart and intensity than the whole Raptors team.

We here at The Real Frequency are proud of sponsors of heatery and this mixtape has been certified. Told y’all it’s been a great week for mixtapes, DJ Rhettmatic of The Beat Junkies explains this one.

“Peace Everyone,

My good friend and producer extraordinaire, Khrysis from the Justice League, and myself have done a mix tape project called “Khrysis On The Boards With The Heat 2″ over the summer (the first installment was done by Mick Boogie). Basically, it is a collection of all his production that he has done in the last year in a half. If you’re not familiar with Khrysis’ work, he has done production for LIttle Brother, Sean Price, Heltah Skeltah, Evidence of Dilated Peoples (check out “The Layover”), & his own group The Away Team, just to name a few.” Hit the jump for the track list and linkage.

OnSmash just dropped a new mixtape from Aftermath artist, and one half of Floetry, Marsha Ambrosius.  Aside from her work as part of Floetry, you might have heard her lending hooks to The Game, Busta Rhymes, Nas, & Hi-Tek last albums.  The tape is entirely produced by Focus (of Aftermath) and features appearances from Little Brother, The Game, and Busta Rhymes.  Nowadays, it seems mixtapes are the only avenue for artists that sign to Aftermath to actually release music! Dre, you need to calm down with the high standards.  Track list and link after the jump.

Mick Boogie + Adele = 1988

Posted by vatkeezy under Heateration, Mixtapes

Man, it’s been a very dope week for mixtapes! Here is a very interesting concept my man Sean Deez put me ontoMick Boogie took acapellas from Adele’s “19″ LP and got some dope up-and-coming producers (Remot, Kickdrums, 6th Sense, etc.) to blend them with beats which sample classics from arguably the greatest year in hip-hop, 88.  Throw in some guest appearances from Naledge (of Kidz In The Hall) and Rapper Big Pooh and what you have is, “1988″!  Check the jump for the track list and link.

French producer Dela already released “Atmosphere Airlines” in Japan and it should see a North-American release in the new year.  Inzane rocked the joint w/Torae from it a couple of times on the show.  If you need to get more acquainted with Dela, check out this free mixtape he just put out, which features remix of songs that appeared on his 2nd LP,“Changes Of Atmosphere”, as well as remixes of classic hip-hop staples (Tribe remix is dope!).  Guest appearances from Blu, Elzhi, Talib Kweli, and many more! Check the jump for the track list and link.

Royce Da 5’9″ – “Shake This” from Three/21 Films on Vimeo.
First single from Royce’s project with DJ Premier entitled “Street Hop”. You might have heard this on the “The Revival” bootleg that leaked earlier this year. Royce will definitely be one of the top dudes to be checking for in 2009 with the buzz he generated this year, without an official LP.

Directed by the hardest-working director right now.
