In the short history of DSG we’ve had some ill episodes, Maestro was sick, the hilarity of J-Wyze but, unlucky episode 13 is by far the best. Not because we go track for track with K-Cut, one third of Main Source, on the classic Breakin’ Atom’s record to uncover a track aimed at Eric B, the origins of mentor Paul C, the creative process behind JustHangin’ out. That’s all good, BUT! We got the uber sclusie, never heard before selcct cuts from the original second Main Source album “The Science” that never made it out to your or our grubbly little hands. This was so sclusie the sclusie exec was left at the door while we listened. Keez had to open his own door. Hip Hop Nerds! Enjoy…

I can’t believe he actually played joints off “The Science”. I’ve been bugging K to hear that shit since the very first day I met him – no lie. This is the culmination of 15 years of rap nerdery reaching its climax.

  5. arcee Said,

Just to be clear – by climax, I meant me nutting in my pants.

  6. aaron keele Said,

DWG, in collaboration with DJ Format, proudly presents:

DWGCD01: ‘LUNGBUTTERS: AN ECLECTIC JOURNEY THROUGH YOUR F.M. DIAL’

    http://www.soulstrut.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Number=1231644

comes with a 7″ featuring 3 unreleased main source tracks

Available exclusively to purchasers of the Lungbutters CD, DWG7002 features
three unreleased Main Source tracks, possibly the final recordings with Large Pro
on mic duties, recorded circa 92/93. The tracks ooze that classic sound which
the Main Source crew are known for…. the music was
excavated from K Cut’s personal stash of demo tapes intended for the
unreleased “Science” album. Even after remastering these are demo tracks
and the sound quality reflects this (you have been warned!), but the music
was too good to leave in the vaults and we’re happy to be able to offer
them to you at a price that won’t break the bank!

“Bootlegging” – Large Pro takes on the role of the bootlegger on this
lost gem, check the horns, this one features on “Lungbutters”.

“Raise Up” – “The Science” was going to be partially constructed of a bunch
of ‘Interlude’ style vocal tracks – this is one of them.

“Time (alternative mix)” – early demo version of the track recently
unearthed for a Japanese only release on P-Vine/Actual Records.
You can secure your copy of the mix and/or 45 bundle by forwarding Paypal
payment to the following e-mail address:

    cdpackage@diggerswithgratitude.com

    Prices are as follows:

    Lungbutters mix CD – £12

Lungbutters mix CD and Main Source 45 – £17

For multiple purchases just scale up the prices accordingly, if you have
    any questions please e-mail cdpackage@diggerswithgratitude.com.

  20. Colin "Cawl" Francis Said,

As always guys, great show! I had written this whole big thing about how dope K-Cut is, and how I used to be in quiet awe of him when he would come into Vinyl Museum with Attic, but “The Net” didn’t want to cooperate with me and wouldn’t take my response. Ah well… Breaking Atoms is one of the top three albums for showcasing amazing production techniques. Would love to hear K speak more on that.

The needs to be a Toronto rap history series. Focusing on different eras. Rap nerds (such as myself) would eat that shit up. Keep up the great work, dude!

  21. Colin "Cawl" Francis Said,

I meant “dudes”… But you guys get the drift…
