Due to popular demand, I have decided to unlock the sclusie vault and share some rare gems with y’all. I mean what’s the point of being the sclusie executive if I can’t share some hard-to-find heat with our loyal listeners?! With that being said, you can expect a regular installment of “Unlocking The Vault” on a weekly basis, chalked full of demos, unreleased joints, and unreleased albums. Let me just throw out the obligatory disclaimer that this segment will be composed of only unreleased material never intended to see the light of day, so think twice before you ask me for the new Nas album, because the only link you will be getting is to HMV. We do not condone or advocate the bootlegging of material intended for sale, as this practice will only lead to the extinction of authentic music.

It’s only right the first installment features one the most heavily played artists on our show. Yep, you guessed it, the late, great James Yancey aka Jay Dee aka J Dilla. After a Dilla beat CD made its way into the hands of Dilla’s west coast counterpart, Madlib, the duo of Jaylib was born. Madlib was so inspired by the beats, he began putting his raps to them, and before we knew it, the demo version of what later would be the “Champion Sound” LP had leaked onto the net. This demo features early versions of songs that would later appear on the LP, as well as a couple of joints left on the cutting room floor.
In addition to the demos, a CD full of outtakes from the album would drop in 2005, featuring a lot of songs and beats not included on the demo that leaked in 2003.

the title of your post is mis-informed.
one of those links is mostly Champion Sound, really bad sounding.
the other one is not “jaylib” and it’s not “out takes” from champion sound or any other album. there use to be a link on stones throw explaining this, but some of those tracks werent done by either madlib or dilla, and that’s obvious listening to them.
Sorry fam, but I must disagree with you.
“one of those links is mostly Champion Sound, really bad sounding.”
- This is indeed the Demos, what happened was that Madlib got a Dilla beat CD and recorded a bunch of shit, thats why it’s only Madlib on the rhymes. A lot of the songs ended up on the actual “Champion Sound” slightly modified.

I would really like to see that link with the explanation, because once again it’s a bunch of Dilla beats that Madlib recorded over.
Hollerate!
