“NY State Of Mind”

“You’re Da Man” / “One Mic”

What a night… I get to the spot right in time to catch the last bit of The Kiiiiiiid’s performance. Then DJ Taktiks and DJ Linx from Mixtape Massacre get on the wheels, start playing, and are soon enough bombarded with boos and chants of “We Want Nas”. The fellas were playing some good music but I’m afraid they might have lost the crowd with some selections, which probably sparked the impatience. In any case, the haterade was flowing in various flavours in typical Screwface Capital fashion. I find it very odd that people who have paid $50 for the show ONLY want to see Nas and nothing more.

Anyways, Nas definitely did his thing, coming out to his new joint “N.I.G.G.E.R.”, which was unfortunately the only joint he did from the new LP, despite my screams for him to do “What It Is”! He proceeded to do the obligatory classics from Illmatic (NY State Of Mind, Represent, One Love, It Ain’t Hard To Tell) and It Was Written (If I Ruled The World, The Message), heaters from Stillmatic (The Intro, You’re Da Man, Rewind, Got Yourself A Gun), notable joints from I Am (Nas Is Like, Hate Me Now). Overall, a very solid performance, as he had full command of the audience the entire time, my only complaint was the lack of sclusie material from the new album and no encore. Shout out to my peoples that reached, my man James (good lookin’ on the pics and videos son!), my man Edwin (good lookin’ on the beers son!), and my girl (Pusha) T for the tickets!

Ahead of the Curve – Pac Div Interview

Posted by musikleeinzane under Real Talk

If you’re a regular reader of this blog you know we’ve been feelin’ these cats for a minute and we like to hype up cats we’re feelin’ before they get popular. It’s that whole Hip Hop “I put you on” attitude. Here’s the uncut version of the interview we had on the show a few weeks ago.

On the Grind – Stryfe Dafantam

Posted by musikleeinzane under Uncategorized

We get a lot of music over here at the Real Freqs, I have to admit theres a ton of stuff that doesn’t make it on the blog much less the show. We tend to be very selective. No offense to any artists but, there has to be standards.

This one has met our approval. Out the D we introduce Stryfe Dafantam. Dude’s been puttin’ in work State-side to Europe buildin’.

Spade – Citizen Kane

I’m fucking amped! So much heat coming out of our backyard right now. I’m loving it! Seems like all the ‘old school’ cats are coming back out. T-Dot Hip Hop icons Citizen Kane leaked this to us, produced by one of my favourite production teams, Down Ta Erf, you might remember them from such joints as Mathematiks’ “Formation”, “Learn To Earn”, and Citizen Kane’s “Blackrain” (the discography is much longer, those are just my favs). Heat!

Saigon and Just Blaze

One of the best up-and-coming MCs, recently signed to Atlantic, promising to deliver his debut LP “The Greatest Story Never Told” on the label after releasing multiple mixtapes. Unfortunately, things didn’t go that smooth and the label had other ideas likely because Sai Giddy isn’t really capable of making a cotton candy soft first single. Instead he dropped “Come On Baby” produced by Just Blaze and even had Jay-Z on the remix, but that couldn’t even convince the label to release the album. Looks like the marriage between the two is over much like what Little Brother went through and the album could be released within the immediate future. The news was leaked on Just Blaze’s blog and later confirmed by Saigon on his Myspace.

Check out Saigon‘s new single produced by Just Blaze posted on his blog earlier today. DJs rejoyce, clean and instrumental versions are also available on the blog.

Tona $7 bil

I wake up Tuesday morning after the radio show to find this gem in my inbox. If you missed the Professionals show featuring Tona, here’s some heat to entice you to check him live wherever he’s at. And for those that don’t know “Sclusie” is Real Freq for “Exclusive”. Now you know, according to GI Joe that’s half the battle.

Nas

Brand new Nas from the new album, which is apparently no longer titled “Ni**er” according to AllHipHop. Production courtesy of DJ Toomp (think Jay-Z “Say Hello”, T.I. “What You Know About That”). Doesn’t sound like this is properly mastered as the drums are almost non-existent, but the lyrics, as usual, are more than on point.

D-Sisive – “Brian Wilson”

Posted by musikleeinzane under Heateration, Homegrown

Another Canadian song about Brian Wilson, consider this the Hip Hop version and a little darker. After virtually vanishing from the scene, D-Sisive has re-emerged. A few years back there was a lot of hype and promise from this T-Dot MC, then…. “Brian Wilson” explains some of what was going on in his life. His first release in years, “The Book” hit’s stores May 27th on Urbnet.
