Nomad

When Reign was announced as the newest member of Canadian Hip Hop group Brassmunk a few years back it was a bit of a surprise. He went from solo MC to group member. Eventually he had to do a solo joint. He’s still with the Brasstards, but is doing his own thing for the moment. Here’s some heat from his upcoming Lp Nomad, featuring and produced by Pharoahe. He told me to feel free to share so I’m sharing it with everyone!

Enjoy.

Real Freq April 28th, 08

When Arcee asked me before the show if I liked the new Roots album ‘Rising Down’ or thought it was incredible, I was like I like it, but incredible? After running it in the Listening and peeping it again, it is incredible.

Buckshot and 9th Wonder have a new album, ‘The Formula’.  Arcee talks to Buck about the Read the rest of this entry »

Busta goes back to being Busta

Posted by vatkeezy under Heateration

This is the Busta Rhymes we have all come to love. I’m glad he turned off the drug kingpin coke rhymes personna for a minute, as it really wasn’t working for him. Unfortunately, this is not the album (“Back On My Bullshit”)single, as that title belongs to his Linkin Park collaboration “We Made It”, which doesn’t hold a candle to this joint in my opinion. The album is shaping up nicely, with the typical star-studded production lineup and guest appearances, including production from the late, great J Dilla, which was confirmed on the “Dillagence” mixtape.

This is one of the few R&B artists I’m feeling these days because dude is simply talented. Check out his YouTube page to see his creative process when making beats, he even ordered a trumpet and had it couriered to him to finish off a beat. His album comes out June 17th, but if you’re savvy enough, you could probably find it online, as it leaked early last year. Not sure if it will be exactly the same, but the LP that leaked was pretty dope (the joint w/ Snoop Dogg is my shit).

Real talk from The Game, as he breaks down how the police can use the judicial system to their advantage in order to escape from even the most blatant and heinous things they do. To be honest, at this point, I’m not even surprised by outcomes likes this, I mean these guys know the judicial system better than anyone and we all know power leads to corruption. When push comes to shove, police are still human and the loyalty they have developed within the office will always work to their advantage, as their responsibility to protect themselves will certainly overrule their responsibility to society. If you’ve watched The Wire or Street Kings, you know what I’m talking about. Anyways, check out Game’s new joint below:

This beef between DeShawn Stevenson and Lebron is out of control. First, DeShawn calls Lebron “overrated” and Lebron chooses not to respond by saying “I’m like Jay-Z, he’s like Soulja Boy, we’re not in the same league”. In response, DeShawn invites Soulja Boy to Game 3 vs The Cavs in Washington, where DeShawn hits 5 three pointers and leads the Wizards to a dominating victory over The Cavs by 30. Friday evening, at Lebron’s party at a club named Love, Read the rest of this entry »

The Real Frequency Apr 21st

Posted by musikleeinzane under Shows

This weeks show is jam packed with heat. I remember Keezy sending that Pete Rock and Slum joint but the quality was horrible. So I couldn’t wait for the album to get a proper version. Lo and behold they left it off. Then they made it iTunes only but, only if you bought the whole album. Sneaky MF’s. Needless to say the iTunes version was purchased. We also preview “The Formula” Buckshot and 9th Wonders newest collab plus new heat from J Live, Fat Ray, wait you can read the playlist….

Is it just me or is Chrisette Michele looking a lot like Jill Scott? I swear she gained some weight since the last time I seen her, maybe it’s just me. Check out a preview of the entire album Real Freq style on this Monday’s show (04/28/2008 11AM EST). This dude Wale is popping up on a ton of joints lately, after being signed by Mark Ronson and co-signed by ?uestlove. Most recently he’s on the Skyzoo joint “Lyrically Inclined” produced by Illmind. Although he relies a lot on his flow and seems to rap about sneakers and clothes only, he had one line I was feelin’ (“And I ga (got) sol (soul) like a Grizzly turned Laker”). Also, speaking of Skyzoo, if you’re in the T Dot on Thursday, May 8th, come check him, alongside one of our finest up-and-comers, Tona, live and direct at The Rivoli, backed by none other than The Real Freqs. E-flyer is here.

Technics vs Marvel

Black PantherIron Man

Ever wonder what your favourite Marvel superhero would sound like on the 1′s and 2′s? Me neither. Someone at Technics and/or Marvel did, hence the Technics vs Marvel T-shirt series. These limited edition number set of tees are dope, especially for the dj/comic book enthusiast (I just made that one up). You can cop these over at the DMC store. If you got the scrill and want to be flossy get yours.

If you’re feeling generous and feel like giving a gift to a certain DJ type (cough, cough) who used to read Black Panther comics and would like to show your appreciation, my address is……

Guess he’s really serious about this. Sung to the Dr. Pepper theme. How’d you like to be a ni**er too? I can’t even write the word.
