Heatery Alert: Busta Rhymes, J Dilla, & Mick Boogie – Dillagence

.

.
Brand new mixtape from the official Cleveland Cavaliers DJ, Mick Boogie, featuring nothing but unreleased collaborations between Busta Rhymes & J Dilla!
.
We all know Busta started working with Dilla around 96′ on his debut LP, “The Coming”. Ever since then, pretty much every Busta LP has had at least 1 Dilla joint, as every album should! It seems they also recorded a ton of material that never came out (I had some of it for the record, that’s riiiiiiiiight bitches), which is why they decided to put this mixtape out to pay homage to a man who most consider one of the greatest hip hop producers ever, if not the greatest. For more info on how this project came together, check out this interview on HiphopDX.com.
.
Due to the overwhelming demand on Mick Boogie’s site, their link went down. Luckily, a man like myself has got you covered.

Some More “Lazy Man Mix” Shit.
![]()
So after my last post with the Stones Throw mix, I went back and found that mix from three years back (2004). Wow, hahahahaha. I can’t remember exactly why I made this. It may have been for Fundfest at CKLN cause there’s Real Freq drops all over it. It’s a R&B/Hip Hop mix,(with a Hip Hop vibe of course) reminds me of waaaaaay back when the show started at CHRY. We were a Hip Hop and R&B show, yes believe it. Before Arcee, before the switch to the all Hip Hop format, before P Plus. It was Me, my man Dexter, Gee Wiz, then later on DJ Precise (the other half of Jungle Science, Jungle who? lol) and my girl Samantha holding it down. Before any of these other shows started mixing the R&B in, we were doing that shit. Check the dates! Not saying we invented it, just at that time no other show was doing it like we did. They either played a set of straight R&B then Hip Hop or whatever, we mixed it up (guess I’ll have to find those tapes too, lol).
.
Anyway, can’t remember why I never put this out (most likely laziness). I got 100 CD’s sitting on a spool collecting dust. Thought I’d put this one up for ya’ll. All of four people heard this (my homegirl Jo still bugs over this CD to this date). Yeah it’s old but, heat is heat far as I’m concerned. I can’t even remember all the song names, so I’ll do my best.

No R&B This Time (The Lazy Man Mix)

.
This is some shit I did for Koch Canada for the Stones Throw 2k8 Bounce Tour that rolls into town on Dec 1st at the Opera House. Got new and old joints, Jaylib, Percee P, MED, Guilty Simpson etc (Dilla quotient is high). I haven’t made a mixtape/CD in like three years (laziness and lack of inspiration). The scene has changed it’s like you just can’t rock a dope mix, you need some sort of concept or a bunch of mc’s on it or hosted by somebody, whatever. Yo this is just my skills and dope music, nothing else. There may be more where this came from, I feel a little inspired. : )

Just when you thought Souljah Boy had the game locked in terms of the most ignorant joint out, the 2007 Khia has arrived. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, “Smell Yo Dick” is the new epitome of ignorance… don’t believe me… check the video. This is not the “official” video, if you are that interested in it, go on Youtube and find it, but while you’re at it, get a lobotomy as well. The “official” video is just a bunch of still photos and this one is much more creative.

Bernard Purdie is the most recorded drummer in the world. He’s worked with everyone from Aretha Franklin from Steely Dan. I recently discovered a series of instructional drumming videos on YouTube from the man himself. This shit is somehow simultaneously nasty yet hilarious. Pretty Purdie is the shiiiiiiit!!!!

When I think Canadian movie, I immediately think of some CBC-funded, Anne of Green Gables type bullshit. David Cronenberg’s “Eastern Promises” squashes my ignorance like a cigarette. The quasi-gangster flick that employs the talents of Cronenberg staple Viggo Mortensen(Lord of the Rings, A History of Violence), Vincent Cassel (La Haine, Irreversible) and Naomi Watts (King Kong) tackles the Russian Mafia in London. The Oscars might seek credibility by nominating Viggo for Best Actor. He deserves it. This flick is full of hard-to-watch, cringe in your seat moments that should satisfy the sadistic motherfucker in all of us.
